Understanding the Labels
World Athletics Platinum Label
The highest certification in road running. Capped at 13 events globally. Requires elite international fields, AIMS-certified courses, and full electronic timing. All 7 WMM Majors hold this status.
World Athletics Gold Label
27 events worldwide including Paris, Rotterdam, Barcelona, and Mexico City. Minimum prize money USD 15,000 for top finishers. Requires 4+ Gold-status elite athletes and AIMS certification.
World Athletics Elite Label
63 events including Vienna, Rome, Dublin, and Stockholm. Minimum 5 elite athletes from 5 different nations. Prize money from USD 7,500. AIMS certified courses required.
AIMS Certification
Association of International Marathons & Distance Races certification. Courses measured by Grade A certified measurers. Mandatory for Boston Marathon qualifying times and WMM time qualifiers.

International Trail Running Association. Rates trail and ultra-marathon events for difficulty, distance, and elevation. Required for UTMB World Series qualification. Trail and adventure races use ITRA instead of standard WA labels.
